Android-x86 ICS 4.0.4 for Acer1000 series – Beta 3 (Acer Aspire Timeline 1825, 1820, 1810, 1425, 1420, 1410 and compatible Packard Bell (Butterfly Touch …), Acer Aspire One and Samsung N145)

By Christopher, June 8, 2012

Although I am very busy for several months, because I am working on my master’s thesis project beside my job, I have found some time to finish beta 3 of my custom Android-x86 build. Feel free to donate me a beer if you like or enjoy my work!

If you are new to Android(-x86) on your laptop I suggest you reading over my old postings and the user comments from ICS and  honeycomb  releases. You will get a better feeling about which things are working (also how they are working) and which not and could get some other clues like how to prepare a bootable usb device, how the prepare for multi-boot and so on.

Moreover I have created a FAQ Page about common problems and question, so please read them before you ask questions:  http://www.ceh-photo.de/blog/?page_id=517

Changelog to beta 2a:
  • Updated to current main Android-x86 ICS branch –> Update to Android 4.04
  • Because of  the update to main branch of Android-x86 there is some proofen support for some huawei umts sticks, but I have not tested it myself, because I do not own one
  • Included additional hardware support, means a lot of firmwares and drivers for wifi cards and lan adapters and so on –> that is why this build could maybe also run quite well on computers of other manufacturers or models as long they are using Intel CPU`s, but if someone really need support for AMD CPU’S, let me know!
  • Support for Samsung N145
  • Support for Acer Aspire One (Series) ,  validated to run on Acer Aspire One 532h-D2r and D250 (UPDATE), but should also work with other models, please try and let me know how it works!!
  • Replaced my Android framework extension for supporting convertible switch with a external solution from Stefan Seidel from Android-x86 group. Due to this change the screen rotation is locked during laptop mode and only enabled if your are in tablet mode.
  • Added Google Docs (missing before)
