Android-x86 Honeycomb 3.2 for Acer1825 series – Beta 3a (Acer 1825, 1820, 1425, 1420 and compatible Packard Bell) [UPDATE]

By Christopher, January 24, 2012

ICS beta 1 is out please step forward to this release! http://www.ceh-photo.de/blog/?p=464

This post is for all people who are reading my blog by RSS and want to be informed about the new beta3a update of my Android-x86 build for the Acer 1825/1820/1425/1420 …. series.

Today I have updated the beta 3 iso to version 3a which fixes feedbacked stability problems which I was not aware of.

The new version is linked inside the updated post of beta3:

http://www.ceh-photo.de/blog/?p=430

The problem was the DPI option which is responsible for hiding the HDPI option from boot menu, so it is removed. As a result the HDPI option is back again, but please do not use this and neither the default option, you need to boot explicitly MDPI. Everything else is the same like described in the posting of beta3.

    Hey Chris,

Is there anyway to backup the current configuration so i no need to reinstall every documents whenever there is an update?

    Thanks!

    Roti!

hmm yes something like this. I described it in the post of beta3. You could install the new version on the same partition or another device/partition and copy all data inside the root-folder of the newer android build over the old one. All/most settings should stay. If tested this procedure twice and it works, but I don’t know if it has any ugly side-effects, so keep a backup.

Doesn’t a suspend kill the touchscreen as it does on all Linux distributions?

    • Christopher says:

Mmh where you get this information? My ubuntu 10.10 installation on the Acer1825 never had such problems.

The problem with android is that sometime after wakeup it takes a while to reenable the touchscreen, or sometimes it never comes back, but if you have this situation you could just suspend and after wakeup the touchscreen will be available.

      Hello Igor,
I had a big break through this weekend, so WIFI,touchpad and accelerometer is now working which were not working before and I struggled long time with it. But I am not at home since sunday, so I think I will distribute beta 1 of ics this week. I will do some last testing before, when I am back at home tomorrow. I think you will enjoy it!

    Incidentally, the site http://code.google.com/p/android-x86/downloads/list
    published update Android-x86-4.0-RC1
maybe it will be what that change or improve?
